N'Golo Kanté is a French professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Saudi Professional League club Al-Ittihad and the France national team. Considered one of the best midfielders in the world, he is known for his work rate and defensive acumen. N'Golo Kante leaves Chelsea after seven years at Stamford Bridge; France midfielder key part of Blues squad that won Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League and Club World Cup during his spell at club; Kante joins Karim Benzema at Saudi Arabia champions Al Ittihad.

The 32-year-old, who won the 2018 World Cup with France, joins up with compatriot Karim Benzema, who left Real Madrid and signed a three-year contract with the Saudi side earlier this week. The 32-year-old French international has been a key player for Chelsea since joining the club from Leicester City in 2016. However, he has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and has found himself behind Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic in the pecking order under manager Thomas Tuchel.

Al Ittihad will be hoping that Kante can help them challenge for the Saudi Professional League title. The club currently sits in second place, they hold 9 titles right behind Al Hilal in the Saudi Arabia pro league.
Kante's departure from Chelsea will be a blow to the London club, who have relied on his energy and defensive capabilities in midfield over the past few seasons. However, with Tuchel's preferred system requiring a more possession-based approach, Kante's role in the team has become less prominent.

The French World Cup winner will officially leave the Blues on June 30 and complete a free transfer to Al Ittihad, reportedly for €86 million ($109.78 million) per year. Overall, Kante's move to Al Ittihad represents a significant change in his career, as he looks to help the Saudi Arabian club achieve success in their domestic league and potentially in continental competitions. Al Ittihad is managed by former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo and finished five points ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr - who came second - last season.
