Tory Lanes, a Canadian rapper and musician, was sentenced to ten years in jail for shooting Megan Pete, aka Meg the Stallion.
In December 2022, the entertainer was convicted on three gun-related offences, including assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unlicensed firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
He was then placed in county jail. He was sentenced to 22 years and eight months in jail after being convicted of shooting fellow entertainer and Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion in the foot following an altercation after they left Kylie Jenner's party in 2020. Meg required surgery to remove gunshot fragments from her foot as a result of the shooting.
During the hearing, the California state judge presented to the court summaries of 76 supporting letters from Mr. Lanez's followers and supporters, one of which was from fellow rapper Iggy Azalea.
"This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and that there is zero tolerance for the torture that comes with violence," Megan Thee Stallion, who chose not to attend the punishment because she said she couldn't be in the same room with Lanez, said.
