Meet the python who overtook a full-sized crocodile. “His eyes were bigger than his stomach” does not apply in this case – quite the opposite actually.
The 10-ft. python sneaks up on the croc and prepares to wrap itself tightly around its body.
Although the croc attempts to tap out, the python does not relent.
The snake then begins to consume it, starting with the head.
The python swallows the croc head first, and slowly works his way down the body. If a catch is big (such as this one) a python can go without eating again for months at a time. Talk about bingeing!
The quadrate bone is what allows snakes to swallow prey much larger than themselves. This is an extra bone that helps unhinge their jaw and consume massive meals such as this crocodile.

Although rich in protein, the bones are the most difficult to parts to digest. If a prey is large enough, it could take the python up to a year to fully digest.
