The HITMAN franchise has always revolved around freedom, creativity, and consequence. With the Signature Edition now on Nintendo Switch 2, newcomers and veterans alike can carry the full trilogy wherever they go – and eliminate targets in whatever fashion they prefer.
As Agent 47, you’re dispatched around the globe to neutralize high-value targets. The brilliance of the series lies in the "how." Will you smuggle poison into a sushi kitchen? Trigger an accident with heavy machinery? Or suit up and simply disappear into the crowd? Hitman invites experimentation, rewarding clever thinking and patience.
I approached the game with fresh eyes – never having played the series before – and found it surprisingly accessible. The Switch 2 version guides you just enough to understand systems, yet leaves room to develop your own playstyle. Missions can stretch from quick 15-minute runs to elaborate hour-long puzzles, depending on how deep you want to go.

Handheld mode is clearly the preferred way to play. Though targeting 60 FPS, real-world performance averaged around 35–40 FPS. But thanks to the Switch 2’s screen technology, it still felt fluid. I enjoyed knocking out missions during travel, lounging at home, or sitting at a park. However, the docked experience was a letdown – stuttering, inconsistent resolution, and a frustratingly lower visual standard.
One feature I really appreciated was mission select flexibility. You can skip ahead to any mission or start fresh at any location in the trilogy. The Celebrity Elusive Target featuring a 007 crossover was a standout, and the Freelancer rogue-like mode added even more replay value to the already deep content.
