Can You Sleep With A Glueless Wig On?

Can you sleep in a glueless wig? Honestly, let me be honest.

A while ago, I was on a business trip and had an early morning flight. The night before, I tried out a new 13x6 glueless lace wig. I tossed and turned until midnight and was too lazy to take it off. I figured, "It's glueless, so what's the big deal if I sleep in it?" The next day, I nearly fainted—my bangs were twisted into a braid, my sideburns looked like they'd been scratched by a cat, and most annoyingly, the edge of the mesh cap rubbed my scalp. This experience made me realize that sleeping in a glueless wig is a complex question.

Let me be clear: yes, you can, but I wouldn't recommend it. Glueless wigs rely on adjustable buckles and anti-slip strips to hold them in place. They look sturdy, but tossing and turning in my sleep causes constant rubbing against my scalp. I wore a human hair wig that time, and I thought it would be durable, but the hair at the back of my head was pressed against my scalp, and I used half a bottle of conditioner to comb it out. My best friend is even more outrageous. She slept in a V part wig with a section, and the next day, the parting on top of her head was crooked and stretched to the back of her head. She was so anxious before leaving the house.

Of course, there's a solution. If you really don't have time to take it off, like when camping or working on a project overnight, remember to loosen the wig and avoid making it too tight. I learned my lesson and braided my long hair into a pigtail before bed, and put a silk net over my short hair to reduce the friction by half. But it's ultimately a temporary solution, just like running in high heels—it's okay once in a while, but who can handle it every day?

The worst part is the scalp's pain. No matter how breathable the mesh cap of a glueless wig is, sleeping with it covered in it feels like steaming dumplings. My sensitive skin got tiny red spots from it that lasted three days of applying ointment. Furthermore, if you wear it for long periods of time, the anti-slip strips will repeatedly rub against your hairline, and you might even lose your own hair, which is not worth the risk.

After all, no matter how convenient a glueless wig is, it's not a "never-removable" wig. It’s okay to be lazy occasionally for the sake of convenience, but if you really want your wig to last a long time and be comfortable wearing it, it’s better to take it off before going to bed. After all, no one wants to wake up in the morning and go to work with a hair that looks like it was blown by a typhoon, right?
