I've always loved playing with my hair, but I was concerned about damaging my natural hair with frequent dyeing and perming. So, I turned to human hair wigs to satisfy my styling desires. I wanted to try a caramel brown color, but couldn't find a satisfactory shade online. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands—dyeing my
human hair wig.
I used a very gentle hair dye available on the market and specifically selected a "pure human hair" wig for my trial. The dyeing process was similar to dyeing your own hair: section, apply, wait 30 minutes, rinse, and then deep condition. The whole process went much more smoothly than I expected, and the results were surprisingly good.
However, I did make some mistakes, such as not doing a color fastness test the first time, which resulted in the color coming out darker than I had hoped. So, if you're thinking about dyeing a wig, here's my advice:
Always choose 100% human hair.
Test the color on an inconspicuous area first.
Properly care for your hair after dyeing (for example, using a repairing mask or wig-specific conditioning oil).
The dyed
color wig not only has a more stylish feel but also looks more like my own hair. My friends all compliment me on my "new hairstyle," but really, I just quietly changed the color of my wig (laughs).
