Many people, when buying a wig, see the word "14 inches" and have no idea what length it is. This is especially true since wigs come in different curls, which can make a huge difference in the visual effect of the length. I also made a mistake when I first bought a 14-inch wig, so today I'd like to share my experience.
If you have straight hair, 14 inches will reach just below your neck, around the collarbone. This length looks great with a T-shirt or shirt, is not too heavy, and is refreshing and stylish, perfect for everyday wear.
However, if you choose a
body wave wig or loose wave wig, the actual length will be about 1-2 inches shorter than the straight hair due to the curvature of the hair, resulting in a wig that appears closer to the chin and collarbone.
If you have curly hair, especially tight or afro curly hair with very elastic curls, a
14 inch wig might appear to be only about 10 inches. The length will be very compact, giving the illusion of short, curly hair with a strong sense of layering, but it will appear much shorter than straight hair.
So, when choosing a wig, don't just look at the number; consider the texture as well. If you want a noticeable sense of length, I recommend starting at at least 16 inches for curly hair, while 14 inches is more than enough for straight hair.
