No fewer than 21 students of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun, bagged First Class Degrees in the 2013/2014 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Institution, Prof. Isaac Adeyemi, disclosed this on Saturday during the 10th Anniversary and 7th Convocation ceremony of the institution.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the institution presented 341 students for graduation, with 21 awarded First Class, 135 with Second Class, 134 with Second Class Lower and 51 with Third Class Degrees.

The ceremony also witnessed the conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degrees and presentation of prizes to deserving students and eminent citizens.

The VC said that all the 34 programmes of the institution had been approved by all the relevant professional bodies and the National Universities Commission (NUC).

”The population of the institution has witnessed a significant increase from 57 students in 2005 to 2,200 students by the 2013/2014 academic session.

”We have also recorded remarkably development in terms of infrastructural development by building the ICT centre and the skill development has been set up for the students,” he said.

He, however, said that three new programmes: Civil engineering, Material engineering and Metallurgical engineering would be introduced by the 2014/2015 session.

Adeyemi said that the institution had provided enabling environment for faculties to keep abreast of modern learning and teaching methods.

He, however, urged the graduating students to maintain higher moral integrity and academic progress.
