Many people have asked me what the difference is between burmese curly and afro curly wigs. I was actually torn before buying one, because both curls look flattering on black women, but the experience is truly different.
Let's start with the afro curly wig. It has very subtle curls, creates a lot of volume, and creates a powerful presence. The first time I wore it to a party, my friends commented on my cool, African-inspired look. The problem is that it's incredibly difficult to manage. The small curls make them tangled easily, and I usually spend 20 to 30 minutes maintaining them. If I neglect them, they'll be frizzy the next day.
By comparison, the burmese curly is much easier to manage. Its curls are slightly larger than the Afro, resulting in a more natural, softer look without looking exaggerated. It's completely effortless to wear daily; a quick touch-up before going out is all it takes. It also lasts all day without falling apart.
Personally, I prefer the burmese curly because it creates a volume without looking overly forced. However, I wouldn't completely abandon the afro curly hair; it's more suitable for special occasions like photo shoots or dance parties.
In short, the
afro curly wig is more statement-making, while the burmese curly wig is more everyday. If I had to choose only one, I'd recommend the
burmese curly wig without hesitation. It gives me a natural and stylish look, and I can definitely pull it off in everyday life.
