When I first started wearing wigs, my biggest concern was length. There were so many options on the market, ranging from short to super-long 24-inch lengths. I got greedy and bought a 22-inch long curly wig, only to regret it within two days.
Long wigs are certainly beautiful and impressive, but they're incredibly troublesome to maintain. They tangle easily, requiring extreme care when combing; otherwise, hair loss and frizz will become noticeable. Furthermore, long hair is time-consuming to wash and care for, taking over half an hour per wash.
Later, I switched to
16 inch wig and
18 inch wigs, and only then did I truly appreciate the importance of manageability. This length hits just below the shoulders—not too short to look ordinary, not too long to look cumbersome. It's easy to comb daily, and even in windy weather, it won't tangle.
Especially, the 18-inch natural curls create volume without looking exaggerated. For beginners, 16-inch and 18-inch wigs are the perfect starting lengths, both practical and versatile. Once you're more familiar with wig care, it's not too late to try longer lengths.
