Which is Better, 13x6 or 13x4?-My Personal View
If you're a wig enthusiast like me, you've undoubtedly heard the terms "13x6" and "13x4." At first, I couldn't tell them apart. I just knew they were both lace wigs, but I had no idea what the difference was or which was better. It wasn't until I tried on a few myself that I realized the key lies in the depth of the lace.
A 13x4 lace wig is 13 inches wide and 4 inches deep, while a 13x6 lace wig is 13 inches wide and 6 inches deep. Even though it's only a 2-inch difference, it makes a real difference. Those 2 inches determine whether you can create a deeper parting, a more natural section, or even a beautiful high ponytail.
My first wig was a 13x4 lace front wig. Its advantages are its lightweight, relatively affordable price, and quick installation. The parting isn't too deep, but it's just enough for a center parting or a subtle side part. It's perfect for office workers or students. It can be put on in just ten minutes in the morning, without the need for extensive lace trimming or baby hair maintenance.
Later, I bought a 13x6 glueless lace wig and immediately noticed the difference. The six-inch depth creates a more natural parting, allowing for deeper center parts or high ponytails, making it look more like my own hair. Especially in sunlight or up close, the roots appear noticeably more natural; even my bestie mistakenly thought it was my real hair.
However, the 13x6 has a larger lace area, making it slightly heavier overall, taking longer to maintain, and slightly more expensive. If you like to change up your hairstyle frequently, part your hair, or appreciate the realistic "growing out of your scalp" look, I highly recommend the 13x6. However, if you prefer daily wear and don't want to spend too much time installing, the 13x4 is more natural-looking.
