Hey builders and indie hackers,
I’m about to launch a small
AI productivity tool and I’m deep in the promo planning phase. Naturally, submitting to AI directories is high on my list for backlinks and early user discovery, but there are so many directories now that it’s hard to know which ones actually drive traffic.
Here’s what I’ve shortlisted so far based on what I’ve read and tested with a dummy listing:
AiSofto – Free, seems indie-friendly, clean design. Approval was fast.
Aitoolnet – They claim 200k+ monthly visitors and offer a do-follow backlink for a one-time $9 fee. Not bad if the traffic is real.
ai_toolify – Free to browse and list. Has good filtering options for users, which might help with discoverability.
AIGCLIST – Human-curated, over 8,000 tools. They have free and paid tiers, plus an optional professional review.
I’m planning to submit to these first and then monitor Google Analytics for referral traffic.
What I want to ask the community:
Are there any other directories that sent you real, converting traffic? Not just bots.
Do you bother with the paid/premium listings, or is free enough in the beginning?
How important is it to have a video demo ready? Will a few good screenshots suffice?
I’ll share my traffic results in a follow-up post after a month if people are interested. Let’s help each other get these tools seen!
