Forza Horizon 6 Landmark Guide: Kinkaku-ji

ShadowArrowShadowArrow Posts: 51
If you’re exploring the stunning open world of Forza Horizon 6, the Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) in the Ohtani region is a must-visit landmark. It’s not only a visual treat but also a hub for seasonal events, photography challenges, and hidden rewards.

Map Location & Navigation

Region: Ohtani, southwest of the main Horizon Festival Site, northwest of Mei's House.

Visual Landmark: A gold-leaf Buddhist temple surrounded by a serene lake and lush forest.

Road Access: A circular dirt loop road runs around the temple and adjacent pond.

Navigation Tip: The temple is just east of the Mech Race/McMide Festival Event. You can use this event or the Kinkaku-ji Trail Dirt Racing spot to fast-travel nearby.

This area is easy to spot thanks to the shimmering gold temple facade and the surrounding natural scenery.

"Discover Japan" Photography Challenge

Kinkaku-ji is one of 26 core photography spots for the Discover Japan Accolades. Here’s how to capture it perfectly:

Drive onto the dirt path or yellow-walled entrance road facing the temple.

Press Up on the D-pad to open Photo Mode.

Frame your vehicle with the golden temple in the background and snap your shot.

Whether for bragging rights or completing your festival checklist, this spot is a photography must.

Hidden Secrets & Collectibles

1. "Welcome to Japan" Treasure Hunt Chest

2. Event: Summer Festival Playlist.

Exact Spot: Follow the yellow-walled entrance around the loop to the far side of the lake, directly across from the temple.
Reward: Drive off-road to smash the chest and instantly earn 100,000 Credits.

3. Barn Find: 2005 Honda NSX-R GT

The area around Kinkaku-ji hides one of the Ohtani region’s secret Barn Finds.

Unlock Requirement: Earn 1,250 Discover Japan points to receive the Yellow Stamp (Visitor) from Mei, which triggers the rumor.

Location: Once the purple rumor circle appears, find a small, unmarked dirt side road near the temple zone. Follow it into the clearing to claim your NSX-R GT.

This makes Kinkaku-ji not just a scenic landmark but also a hotspot for hidden treasures and rare cars.
