Forza Horizon 6 is finally here, and with its beautiful, winding roads set across Japan, there is a ton of content to dive into. If you are a fan of classic rally history, one of the first legendary machines you will probably want to hunt down is the 1984
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16. This pocket rocket is an absolute Group B icon, and getting your hands on it feels just as satisfying as it did in previous titles.
However, you can't just drive out and stumble upon it from the very start. It is locked behind a specific progression gate, hidden away as a classic Barn Find in the Shimanoyama region. Here is a straightforward, step-by-step breakdown of how to trigger the rumor, track down the barn, and get this rally legend added to your garage.
1. Reach the Pathfinder Stamp Level
If you have spent hours scouring the map early on wondering why the barn isn't showing up, here is the catch: Barn Finds in Forza Horizon 6 are strictly tied to your Campaign progression tracker. The Peugeot 205 T16 will not spawn in the game world, and the rumor won't trigger, until you have put some serious work into your Discover Japan campaign stamps.
Required Level: You need to reach Level 4 on your progression tracker, which awards you the Pathfinder (Pink Stamp).
How to level up quickly: Focus on knocking out the yellow story missions across the map. If you prefer pure racing, running through touge events and standard road races will rack up points fast. Alternatively, you can take a break from racing to discover new regions or hunt down and smash regional mascots to give your campaign status a nice boost.
2. Locate the Barn in Shimanoyama
Once you hit that Pathfinder level, the radio will crackle to life, and the classic search circle rumor will pop up on your world map. Pull open your map and head directly over to the Shimanoyama region to find the vehicle.
Map Position: You want to navigate toward the Mountain Pass Speed Zone area. Look toward the northern corners (northwest or northeast) of the Shimanoyama region, right around that speed zone camera setup.
Finding the Barn: Keep your eyes peeled on the side of the main paved road for a wide, distinct dirt track cutting off into the landscape. This trail leads right up a short hill. Follow the dirt path up through the treeline, and you will see the classic weathered barn tucked away among the trees at the crest of the hill. Drive up close to trigger the unlock cutscene.
3. Restore the Car
After watching the cutscene, this iconic Group B rally car will be hauled back to your garage. From here, you have two choices to get it road-ready:
The Free Method: Simply get back to driving, exploring, and completing other races. The restoration team will fix up the car in the background, and it will automatically unlock for free after a little while.
The Instant Method: If you cannot wait to build an ungodly dirt tune immediately and take it off-road, you can jump into the Barn Finds menu and pay a steep Credit fee to skip the wait time and restore it instantly.
Once it is fully restored, this mid-engine, four-wheel-drive beast is all yours. It is the perfect machine for tearing up the loose gravel trails and narrow mountain passes scattered across Horizon's version of Japan. Happy hunting!
