The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, who stated this in a statement on Saturday, explained that the troop recovered the arms and ammunition at a residential area in Bulabulin Ngarna on Friday morning following a tip off from members of the Civilian JTF.

Usman said that the troops recovered “three sealed boxes of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, three jerry cans containing various calibres of ammunition, two sacks containing 5,998 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 1, 760 rounds of 5.56mm SS109 calibre of ammunitions.”

He said that the troops also recovered five empty magazines of AK-47 rifle and a magazine of Fabrique Nationale rifle.

He commended the members of the Civilian JTF for their display of patriotism in the ongoing campaign against insurgency in the North-East.

He urged members of the public to security conscious and to report all suspicious persons to security agencies.

Usman expressed optimism that more of such arms and ammunition could be hidden by the insurgents in other parts of the North East.

He said, “Troops on Operation Lafiya Dole deployed in the outskirts of Maiduguri following a tip off from the Civilian JTF in the area recovered a large cache of ammunition at a residential area of Bulabulin Ngarnam, Borno State.”
