Foundation plans for teachers
The Ovie Brume Foundation has promised to reward some outstanding teachers in Lagos State public schools for their commitment to the profession.
The Youth Centre Manager of the foundation, Mrs. Preye Egbolibe, said the teachers would be celebrated by the non-governmental organisation in November.
Egbolibe said this at a briefing in Lagos. According to her, pupils in the selected schools will be involved in making the selection.
“To celebrate this, the foundation has selected schools where teachers would be nominated based on outstanding performance. Pupils would then write about their preferred teachers and the teacher with the highest number of favourable compositions would be selected winner,’’ she said.
Also, the Executive Director, OBF, Mrs. Iwalola Akin-Jimoh, said the programme was one of the foundation’s projects to keep the dreams of the late Ovie Brume alive.
She said, “The foundation, which came up as a commemoration of the late Ovie Brume’s legacy in 2003, has since provided numerous youths with a range of recreational, social and educational opportunities. The idea is to develop positive attitudes, discover their talents and gifts, as well as recognise their opportunities.”
The Centre Coordinator, Mrs. Lois Ekeleme, said it had supported the education sector by organising various activities, such as after – school lessons, summer classes and internship placement for indigent pupils.
She added, “They are trained to go back to their schools, communities and homes to share their experiences and knowledge with others who are non-members of the foundation.
