Adora, not my story — Bridget John

Bridget
US-based Nigerian producer cum lead actress of award-winning movie, “Adora”, Bridget John, is currently in the country putting plans in motion to get the film running at the cinemas.

At the private screening of the film in Lagos last weekend, Bridget said, “Adora” is not a true life story. “Adora is nobody’s story. The story and screenplay by Dianne Diaz was an impeccable work of art coupled with the fact that it was interpreted and directed by an amiable, certified Hollywood Director, Austeen Eboka, and captured by a talented cinematographer, Robert Peters. This made it a blend destined for success,” she said.
Bridget, who described “Adora” as a captivating and intriguing movie, said she has a desire to premiere the film in Nigeria. “I am planning to premiere the film in Nigeria and at the same time seeking potential Nigerian distributor who will be willing to pick up the tab.”
“Adora is a captivating film. It takes you on a roller coaster ride with lots of twists and turns. It is about the life of Adora a young mother going through tribulations and just when she thought she was at the end of the tunnel the inevitable happens. A lot of people can relate to the story because it is akin to the daily challenges they go through, but whether we sink or float is up to us. There is an Adora in everyone of us,” she stated.
According to her, although the movie is considered low-budget in the United States, it has loads of qualities and potentials. “The film will be considered a low-budget movie in the US but right now we are entering it into festivals and award shows. Adora is the story of an immigrant woman who loses everything: her marriage, job, dignity, and freedom. However, she holds tight to her decision to face the future and survive. John is co-producer and plays the lead role in the movie, which was named the Best Film in the Diaspora category at the Nollywood and African Film Critics’ Awards held in September in Beverly Hills, California.”
